How OpenText boosted conversions with Limio’s no-code checkout

Discover how OpenText transformed its subscription checkout with Limio’s no-code platform, unlocking faster agility and driving double-digit conversion growth.

The Customer

OpenText is a global leader in enterprise information management and a trusted provider of consumer and small business solutions through its Carbonite and Webroot brands. Together, these brands form the core of OpenText Security Solutions, delivering cloud backup, data resilience, and advanced endpoint protection to millions of users worldwide.

To meet its high aspirations for Webroot and Carbonite and ensure the brands are future-ready, OpenText partnered with Limio to reinvent the subscription checkout, focusing on higher conversion and business agility.

The Challenge
The previous checkout was custom-built, burdened with technical debt, and tightly coupled to internal tools. Over time, it became slow and inflexible, and with much of the original knowledge lost, it was increasingly difficult to maintain.

Simple commercial updates, such as pricing tweaks or promotions, required developer involvement and long release cycles, leaving business teams unable to act quickly. Performance was poor, usability lagged behind competitors, and enforcing evolving product or regulatory rules  was a big effort.

The Solution
In just five months, OpenText and Limio delivered a new checkout built with Limio’s modular Cart Components. The modern design not only improved the look and feel, but also made upsell and cross-sell opportunities more visible.

Key improvements included:

  • Guest checkout with embedded business rule enforcement.
  • Seamless integration with internal APIs to apply real-time eligibility checks, such as blocking incompatible products.
  • Support for PayPal and credit card payments, including PayPal Commerce.
  • Compliance with regional requirements such as auto-renewal consent in California, New York, and Vermont.
  • Native integration with Zuora for payment, tax, and order processing

The Benefits
The new checkout puts control back in the hands of the business. Marketers can now launch campaigns, adjust pricing, and refine messaging instantly without developer support. With a richer data layer, upsell testing, and GA4 integration, teams can experiment faster, track user behaviour in real time, and optimize the funnel continuously.

The impact has been clear:

  • +13.9% increase in checkout conversion
  • +7.3% increase in revenue per cart
  • Shift in ownership from engineering to business teams

“Limio gave us the best of both worlds: deep integration with our legacy stack and the marketing agility of a modern SaaS platform. We’ve cut down on engineering bottlenecks and seen a clear lift in conversion - exactly what we needed.”
— Chris Brenneman, Director Ecommerce & Online Experiences, OpenText

What’s next?
Building on Webroot’s success, OpenText has already rolled out the new checkout to Carbonite and is planning further enhancements, including abandoned basket campaigns and manual renewal flows. With Limio, OpenText is on track to manage the full subscription lifecycle in one platform - driving faster growth and smarter customer experiences across its portfolio.
