Membership and subscription glossary

What is a membership upgrade?

Moving a fan from one tier to a higher one, ideally at the moment they need the extra benefit.

TL;DR

A membership upgrade moves a fan to a higher tier, usually for earlier ticket access or extra benefits, paying the difference in price.

What does “Membership upgrade” mean?

Fans upgrade at renewal, before big sales and after a good run of results. At Tottenham Hotspur, for example, moving from One Hotspur to One Hotspur+ doesn't affect a fan's loyalty points, while moving to a season ticket resets them.

How does it relate to football membership?

Upgrades are some of the cheapest revenue a club can earn, because the fan is already a member. The key is timing and ease: an upgrade offered just before a big access window, and completed in two clicks, converts far better than an email asking fans to call the ticket office.

How Limio helps

Limio handles upgrades in the fan's self-serve account at any time, works out the price difference, and sends the new entitlements to ticketing and the CRM straight away.
