What are the additional pre-contract requirements for subscriptions?
The extra checks that depend on how a fan signs up: online, by phone or in person.

TL;DR
On top of pre-contract information, the subscription rules set extra requirements depending on the sales channel, such as a clearly labelled order button online. If the online button doesn't make the payment obligation clear, the consumer isn't bound by the contract.
What does “Pre-contract requirements” mean?
- Online: the trader must show any delivery restrictions and the accepted payment methods during checkout (not via a link). The last step must make clear the consumer is committing to pay, for example a clearly labelled "Subscribe and pay" button. If not, the consumer is not bound by the contract.
- Phone: if the trader makes the call, it must say from the outset who it is and that the purpose is commercial.
- In person: if the consumer signs a contract, they must be given a copy immediately. Pre-contract information must be given on paper or by email.
How does it relate to football membership?
Clubs sell memberships through all three channels: online, through the ticket office phone line and at the stadium or club shop. Each channel needs its own compliant process, and outbound calls to lapsed members (for example in a win-back campaign) must open with who's calling and why.
How Limio helps
Limio powers online checkouts and agent-assisted sales from Salesforce, so the same compliant offer, wording and button labels can be used whether a fan buys online or through the ticket office.
This is a plain-English summary of the subscription rules in Part 4, Chapter 2 of the DMCCA and the draft Consumer Subscription Contracts (Cancellation and Information) Regulations 2026, based on the draft government guidance published in October 2026. The regulations are still subject to parliamentary approval. It is not legal advice.
