What is a Premier League membership?

There is no single Premier League membership. Each of the 20 clubs sells its own, mostly so fans can get tickets for matches that sell out.

TL;DR

A Premier League membership is a paid membership sold by an individual Premier League club, not by the league. An adult membership usually costs about £35 to £60 a season, and it gives fans the right to buy match tickets before general sale, which matters because most Premier League matches sell out.

What does “Premier League membership” mean?

The Premier League is the top division of English men's football. It was formed in 1992, when the clubs in the old First Division broke away from the Football League, and it has 20 clubs. Each season, three are relegated to the Championship and three are promoted from it.

The league itself doesn't sell memberships to fans. Each club runs its own membership scheme, sets its own prices and tiers, and decides what members get. So a "Premier League membership" is always the membership of a particular club, such as One Hotspur membership at Tottenham Hotspur.

For 2026/27, a standard adult membership at a Premier League club costs roughly £35 to £60 a season. Junior memberships usually cost £20 to £30, and premium tiers with earlier access and extra benefits can cost £70 or more.

How does it relate to football membership?

Clubs at this level sell memberships because demand for tickets is far higher than supply. In 2025/26, Premier League grounds were on average more than 95% full, and at many clubs most seats go to season ticket holders before a single match ticket goes on sale.

So who needs a membership? Any fan who wants to buy a ticket for a home match without holding a season ticket. At many clubs, most home matches are sold only to members, in priority windows or ballots, often ordered by loyalty points. At many clubs, fans on the season ticket waiting list also need to stay members to keep their place. Fans who rarely go to matches join for the other benefits, such as content, retail discounts and a welcome pack.

How Limio helps

Limio is a membership platform that sits alongside a club's ticketing system. It sells the membership, runs tiers, upgrades, renewals and payment methods such as direct debit, and passes each member's entitlements to ticketing so priority windows and ballots work as they do today. Tottenham Hotspur's One Hotspur membership runs on Limio.
